Sunday was some kind of magic. Almost solid deck of high thick cirrus, 10-15knots wind from the south. Zero Cu. Looked hopeless like you'd be lucky to ever get the start gate to open. We had strong lift to well over 7k, I got over 7500 on course, and had to steer around the ATL airspace to not bust through it. Multiple pilots mentioned having their needles go past 10. We called a 100 mile TAT, and once you were on course it was relatively easy, you just had to ride out heavy sink in places. I knew FS would want us to set the course up and down the windline, so we did. On Saturday TopMeteo Nailed the forecast, and did good on Sunday, but Skysight nailed the timing of high cirrus passing and when it would clear off. We had two challenging but great days of soaring at SES this weekend, and if you weren't there you missed a great seafood dinner in Pine Mtn's Oyster House on Sat eve. 2EZ did great without a flight computer, only had foreflight and no soaring computer after his ipaq burped a battery.
