Hello Race Fans - Despite some very bad weather - the Eagleville gang was determined to have a valid GTA contest this past weekend. Saturday - lets just say that there was no contest after the sniffer and tow pilot were forced to land out due to a rapidly developing thunderstorm. MP landed out on a farm field 17 miles south. Could bases were about 1500 agl with some 1 - 2 knot lift. Did manage to stay up longer than the tow plane who landed at Shelbyville airport. The retrieve crew was on the spot 5 minutes after my landing and saved me from a large amorous drunken farm woman who had started the Saturday partying kinda early - whew! and got out of the field as the rain - hail - lightning were starting - this retrieve was NASCAR fast and would have made the Dale Earnhart pit crew jealous! Like the farm lady said - we are professionals! Thanks to Ron Murphy - John Murphy - and Werner Rüegger for the help! Had a nice cookout with ribs and sausages Saturday night at MP's house with some great laughs about the adventure. Sunday - by 2pm cloud bases had reached the minimum 3000 agl with 2-3 knot lift. We called a 116 mile nominal distance TAT with a 50 mile minimum. Werner Rüegger showed us how its done and completed the task winning the day. He had no close seconds - MP landed out at Shelbyville airport inside the first turn. Z2 and SRK never got a start. The lift was weak, choppy, and difficult to center - the ground in the entire area was soaked and the day muggy. Really proud of EL (Werner) for validating my ambitious task call. Way to go!
